Juan has been a part of the Huella Andina team of guides since 2014. He began assisting Matías during the ascents of the Osorno volcano to develop his own path in the tourism industry and become certified as an ANGM Mountain Guide in 2019 and registered as such with Sernatur.
From studies related to country life and geology, he dedicated several winter seasons to work in ski resorts in southern Chile, and the rest of the year to vertical work and guiding. Today he shares his time between life in the field, as a volunteer member of the Andean Rescue Corps of Puerto Varas, and work in tourism.
