Also known as Antillancain Mapudungun “the Jewel of the Sun“This volcano allows us on the way to its summit to discover the world of mountaineering and enjoy incredible views of the Lake District.
Rising on the side of the road that connects the city of Osorno with Bariloche, Casa Blanca is an inactive cone-shaped volcano that separates lakes Puyehue and Rupanco. Due to its altitude of only 1,990 meters and its scarce glaciation, its ascent presents no technical difficulties and is an excellent alternative to access one of the dominant summits of southern Chile and a perfect viewpoint for future challenges.
The ascent by its northwest face starts at the Antillanca ski center. Depending on the time of the ascent, it is possible to reach the Raihuen Crater by vehicle (or you must walk about 3 km and 240 m of elevation gain). From this point the ascent runs along volcanic trails during the summer season or through its snowy slopes during the winter and spring. As you gain altitude, the views of the Puntiagudo and Osorno volcanoes and Lake Rupanco become more and more impressive.
In our way back – but depending on our itinerary – it is possible to stop and take a thermal bath in “Aguas Calientes“.
